Hamburg Sud takes delivery of 5,554-TEU Monte Alegre

THE Monte Alegre, the ninth in a series of ten 5,554-TEU ships of the Monte class to be delivered to Hamburg Sud, has been christened in Buenos Aires.

At the ceremony, the Monte Alegre's sponsor was Brigitte Oetker, wife of Arend Oetker, managing partner of Arend Oetker Holding GmbH & Co KG.

The Monte Alegre will be phased into the shipping company's Asia-South America Service and deployed in Hamburg Sud's Europe-South America east coast loop.

The vessel is 272 metres long, 40 metres abeam with a main engine output of 45,765 kilowatts.
