In 2008, rail ferry service Baltjisk-Sassnitz carried 1,200 wagons including 6000 wagons from Germany to Russian consignees, Russian Railways reports.
This ferry service is mainly used for transportation of cars, automotive engineering, construction cargo, paper. Oil products are delivered to Ust-Luga-Baltijsk for further transportation by tankers. The Baltijsk ferry with the capacity of 99 wagons operates at Baltijsk-Ust-Luga service once in four days.
The Vilnus ferry of DELIS LISCO with the capacity of 49 wagons transports cargo by Baltjisk-Sassnitz service twice a week. Rated turnover of Ust-Luga-Baltjisk-Sassnitz service is 3.5 million tonnes (for rail component) and 2 million tonnes (for automobile component).
