The T2 Domestic Terminal is not operated on a 24-hour basis and, for security reasons, normally closes soon after the curfew commences at 11.00pm.
Announcements were made that a 24 hour waiting area was available in the International Terminal and some Jetstar passengers went there. This area has access to toilets and other amenities.
Last night the T2 closing time was extended to around 1.00am.
At this time there were approximately 20 Jetstar passengers still in the terminal and no Jetstar staff were in attendance. People were again advised that a 24 hour waiting area was available in the International Terminal and some passengers departed the area in taxis.
Sydney Airport is concerned about this incident and understands the upset that has been expressed by the Jetstar passengers involved.
