Ship builder's profit

China State Shipbuilding Corp, the nation's biggest, posted 14 billion yuan (US$1.9 billion) of profit in 2007 on record demand for vessels.

The state-owned group took new orders for 23 million deadweight tons of vessels in 2007, according to a statement on the Website of the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry.
