Throughput of Ukrainian ports up 8.3% to 122 mln t in Jan-Nov 08

In January-November 2008, seaports of Ukraine handled 122 million tonnes of cargo (+8.3%, year-on-year), press center of Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport and Communications refers to the deputy Minister Vladimir Rabornev. In the reported period, export grew by 12%, import – by 29%.

The port of Odessa handled over 31.6 million tonnes of cargo; Yuzhny – over 19.9 million tonnes; Iljichevsk – 17.6 million tonnes; Mariupol – 14.9 million tonnes. Coal, ore and ferrous metal accounts for some 42% of the total volume. In the reported period, container throughput grew by 21%, year-on-year.
