Evraz Group plans to acquire Ukrainian Donbas, majority shareholder in the Gdańsk Shipyard

The Russian Evraz Group, controlled by oligarch Roman Abramowich, wants to take over Ukrainian Donbas, the new majority shareholder in the Gdańsk Shipyard and Huta Częstochowa steel mill.

The Evraz Group, one of the world's biggest steel and mining businesses is close to finalising the acquisition of Donbas, reports Russian Kommersant daily.

It is believed that the new company formed after the acquisition worth $50 billion, will be among the world's top five steel producers.
