Forward Air reports improved results

Forward Air Corp. reported second quarter net profit of $12.1 million, 5.5 percent more than in the same 2007 period.

Operating revenue was $121.6 million, up 30.5 percent from the second quarter of 2007.

Forward Air provides time-definite surface transportation and related logistics services to the North American air freight and expedited less-than-truckload market as a cost effective, reliable alternative to air transportation.

Bruce Campbell, chairman, president and chief executive officer attributed the growth to new initiatives, improved freight volumes and cost control.
