Global Ports owned Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC) is included in the ports rotation of the ocean carrier ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, the stevedore company’s press-service reported. On June 5th, the VSC’s container terminal handled the first Zim’s box ship.
Large-capacity container carrier Panamax Pearl River arrived at the port of Vostochny from the U.S. port of Oakland on Sunday. The ship’s tonnage - 4250 TEUs, deadweight – 50,689 tons, length - 260.6 m. The Pearl River 1 is the largest container ship ever to visit the ports of the Far East of Russia.
The Pearl River 1 is one of 14 ocean class vessels of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services. The next ship of the ocean carrier, the Zim Panama, is expected to call at VSC terminal over the next two weeks. In July four boxships are scheduled for handling at the container terminal. Overall, 24 ports the Americas-based ports, as well as those located in Asia and the Mediterranean are included in the shipping company’s port rotation.
"This is the third ocean-going boxship the VSC’s berths have seen in recent year. Earlier, we have successfully handled the 3,300teu Hansa Liberty, operating on the Sinokor Merchant Marine Co. Service. Besides, the FESCO’s 3,108teu Diomid calls once in two weeks, operating on FESCO China Direct Line (FCDL) service, at the VSC’s terminal,” said John Skurtis, General Director of LLC Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company.
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company is the largest container terminal in the Russian Far East, operating at Vostochny Port. The company’s major stockholders are Global Ports Group (75%) and port operator DPW (25%).
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd (Israel) is one of the largest global shipping companies. ZIM operates a fleet of 100 container vessels with a total capacity of 240,000 TEUs. The company has 120 agent and branch offices. ZIM container shps call at ports of 180 countries.
