APL postpones re-launch of North America Pacific coast service

2011-06-02 00:00:00

APL has postponed the resumption of its transpacific PCE service which has been shelved since March.

The service was originally scheduled to recommence on June 6 from Dalian, but it will not be resumed until June 19 owing to weak cargo volumes and low utilisation levels on transpacific routes.

The six 4,600-TEU vessels used on the service have been redeployed on the carrier's intra-Asia network where they replace ships during dry docking, said Alphaliner. The port rotation for the PCE is Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Yokohama, Los Angeles, Oakland, Dutch Harbor, Yokohama, Busan and back to Dalian with HMM, MOL and Evergreen taking slots on the service.
