MOSCOW's Domodedovo Airport, the largest airport in Russia, has won transport ministry approval to build a new replacement runway ahead of the decommissioning its existing Runway-2 in 2015.
A working group of the Moscow Transport Hub project discussed the importance of the new runway which will be 1,800 metres east of the existing runway and more than double existing capacity to 50 million passengers a year.
The preliminary construction will be financed by the airport which is part of the public private partnership, said a statement from the airport.
