Henceforth, May 6 set for 'Yangtze River Delta Logistics Day' celebration

JIANGSU, Zhejiang and Shanghai have agreed, that starting this year, May 6 will be celebrated as Yangtze River Delta Logistics Day.


The decision was made at the 2011 Yangtze River Delta Joint Development of Modern Logistics Conference held in Nanjing. In August of 2007, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai established a meeting system for modern logistics joint development of the Yangtze River Delta region and, to date, five modern logistics joint development meetings have been held throughout the area.


According to statistics, Jiangsu's total logistics value in 2010 reached US$1.78 trillion, making up about one-tenth of the national total. Zhejiang is home to 167 national class-A logistics enterprises, leading all provinces, municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions nationally.


A new container terminal is capable of handling four million TEU, adds six million TEU to the capacity of the whole of the Port of Chennai. In the first quarter, its PSA-operated second terminal based in the southeast increased throughput 26 per cent to 1.52 million TEU year on year.
