MAERSK Line, Safmarine and Hamburg Sud are to upgrade capacity on their Far East to east coast South America (ECSA) service via South African ports, starting in July.
The new string two will deploy eleven 4,200-TEU vessels with Maersk providing six ships. The port rotation will be Shanghai, Guangzhou-Nansha, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Durban, Suape, Sepetiba, Itajai, Santos, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
Hamburg Sud will provide Santa-class ships of 7,100 TEU while Maersk's Sammax-class vessels are slightly larger at 7,500 TEU. Six of each series will be deployed in the service.
The ASAS/NGX sling rotation calls at Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, PTP, Singapore, Santos, Itapoa, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itapoa, Paranagua, Santos, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Busan.
