Kuehne + Nagel manages footwear distribution for Bearpaw

CALIFORNIA's Bearpaw Footwear has selected Kuehne + Nagel for US distribution in a bid for the casual footwear provider to scale its logistics requirements, reduce costs and streamline its overall supply chain.


The logistics giant will provide integrated services, including international transportation, customs brokerage and US distribution operations.


Wayne Cottrell, chief financial officer and chief operations officer of Bearpaw Footwear, said in a statement that his company aims to leverage the logistics firm's "global network and expertise in developing supply chain distribution and management solutions that support our strategic goals."


The logistics provider will manage sea freight and customs brokerage for footwear shipments between China and the United States. Its transportation bases in Hong Kong and San Francisco are expected to coordinate the movements of more than 2,000 containers (TEU) a year. The company will also provide real-time visibility, monitoring and reporting, critical to ensuring stock levels are optimised.


These shipments will go directly to the footwear manufacturer's US clients, as well as to the logistics company's shared distribution centre in Whittier, California, for retail distribution and inventory management. The Whittier location will also host the Bearpaw showroom for connecting commercial clients directly to the footwear brand.
