OMAN's national carrier, Oman Air Cargo, is to start truck services for the pan-Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries from Muscat and Salalah to connect its road service with select airports in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar effective June 1.
The road feeder service will be operated by its partner M/s Able Logistics Group (Oman) LLC on a schedule, with options for ad hoc requests from Oman to Salalah and Sohar with further destinations of Adam, Nizwa, Duqm and Sur to be added in the near future, reports the Oman Tribune.
The airports of the UAE will include Saudi Arabia's Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi airports and King Fahad Abdul Aziz Ad-Dammam, King Khalid Riyadh and King Abdul Aziz Jeddah airports, in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
In a press statement, Oman Air COO Abdulrazaq Alraisi said that it is confident local imports and exporters will welcome the product of ground transport services it will group with its flight programmes.
"We are sure that this new service will supplement our narrow bodied aircraft flying within the Gulf region," he said.
The GCC covers 2,500,000 square kilometres and comprises of the Persian states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
