TNT'S Liege-Chongqing route recently got approval from the China Customs to stop by Shanghai when it flies to China, Xinhua reports.
The route was launched in September last year and soon become a fast track for "made in Chongqing" exports to Europe. As of April 15, the route had offered 158 flights carrying a total of 6,023 tonnes of cargo valuing US$325 million. But due to restriction of policy, the service is not allowed to stop in Shanghai, and this led to low utilisation rate of the import leg of route.
To resolve this, Chongqing customs applied to the China Customs for approval for the Liege-Chongqing-Shanghai-Liege service and seek help from the Shanghai customs. The two customs offices worked out a supervision plan for the service.
An official from the Chongqing customs said that the steady development of the service is important as it serves as an example of Chongqing's international cargo services and a brand-new logistics channel for Chongqing's world's largest laptop manufacturing base.
