2011-05-19 00:00:00

CEVA Logistics has extended its contract with the Fiat Group to include the provision of supply chain management services for all Chrysler Group LLC brands, namely Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge.

Under the terms of the extended contract, the logistics company will manage the warehousing and distribution of spare parts for dealers that distribute Chrysler group brands in Spain and Portugal. The operation will be based in Alcala de Henares, near Madrid, inside the existing facilities that CEVA already operates on behalf of Fiat. The current warehouse will be expanded by 4,000 square metres to accommodate the additional volumes, a company statement said.

Oscar Martinez, senior business development manager, automotive and industrial added: "This win represents a milestone in our relationship with Fiat group, and shows our ongoing commitment to supporting their business strategy."

The logistics provider expects to handle 30,000 items each year, which will arrive from Italy, being responsible for reception warehousing, picking and final distribution to 11 centres in Portugal and 92 centres in Spain. In addition, it will manage reverse logistics activities as well as waste management for batteries, damaged products and other materials such as paper and wood, which will be collected and recycled.

Ricardo Lopez Alonso, manager of spare parts logistics, Fiat Group-Chrysler LLC, added, "With the incorporation of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands to our distribution network, CEVA was the obvious choice of partner as we remain highly satisfied with the work they carry out-the result of a decision we made 16 years ago."
