Alashankou's first quarter trade grows in both volume and value

SINO-KAZAKHSTAT border city of Alashankou in Xinjiang recorded a trade cargo volume of 6.06 million tonnes in the first quarter, up 10.6 per cent year on year with the value of the cargo rising 41.4 per cent to US$3.59 billion, Xinhua reported.


Import volumes increased 5.5 per cent to 4.78 million tonnes while value grew 38 per cent to $3.17 billion. Export volume rose 35.4 per cent to 1.28 million tonnes with value soaring 73.5 per cent to $425 million.


In this period, Alashankou customs collected a tax revenue of CNY3.39 billion (US$522.2 million), up 43.5 per cent, generating CNY127 million in tariff, an increase of 119 per cent, while CNY3.26 billion was raised in import duties, a rise of 41.6 per cent.
