2011-05-13 00:00:00

DOHA, an institution launched by the World Trade Organisation in 2001, has disappointed in its failure to stimulate trade and investment by WTO members of major developed countries supported those less developed with market openings, said eight trade US bodies.

The latest round of trade talks by Doha on multilateral trading was applauded on the one hand for its work in breaking down barriers but criticised for its lack of "balance and ambition", said a statement from the groups.

According to the participants in the negotiations, the gaps in services, agriculture and manufactured goods appear to be unbridgeable under current circumstances.

The groups include American Farm Bureau Federation, Business Roundtable, Coalition of Service Industries, Emergency Committee for American Trade, National Association of Manufacturers, National Foreign Trade Council, US Chamber of Commerce, and US Council for International Business.
