transport logistic 2011 opens with strong growth: over 1,890 exhibitors

2011-05-11 00:00:00

Again in 2011, transport logistic is showing its strengths as the world´s largest trade fair for the sector: taking part in this 'International Exhibition for Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management' this year are 1,893 companies from 59 countries.

This figure represents a rise of over seven percent in exhibitor numbers as compared to the last event in 2009.

"The general economic situation has improved considerably – and we are seeing this reflected at transport logistic: exhibitors who were not able to take part in the crisis year of 2009 are now back again and we are seeing new exhibitors, too," said Eugen Egetenmeir, Managing Director of Messe München. "In particular we have noticed a strong increase in the number of logistics services companies exhibiting here. We also have more maritime and inland ports at the fair, and railway companies, too. But the most marked increase comes from the commercial vehicle manufacturers. This group of exhibitors dropped out almost completely in 2009. But now almost all the key producers are back at the fair."

The increase of around 130 exhibitors is accounted for mainly by exhibitors from abroad. This year, the proportion of exhibitors at transport logistic from outside Germany is around 44 percent, as compared to just over 40 percent in 2009. The number of countries of origin among the exhibitors has also expanded – from 55 in 2009 to 59 this year. Particularly strong is the growth in interest from the Baltic countries – with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Here the total number of exhibitors has almost tripled.

Also strong are the Benelux countries: The Netherlands tops the league of nations from outside Germany exhibiting at the fair – over 100 companies come from this part of the world. And the figures for Belgium and Luxembourg are also considerably higher than last time. Scandinavian participation – exhibitors from Finland, Norway and Sweden – has doubled this year. A number of countries in Eastern Europe, too, are putting in a stronger showing in 2011: roundabout 80 percent more participants are here from Poland and Russia. The story is the same for Turkey, too. And for the first time a Central Asian country, Kazakhstan, is represented at transport logistic.

The top ten countries of origin for exhibitors from outside Germany are as follows (in this order): Netherlands, Italy, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Austria and Russia. Spain and Switzerland are in equal 9th position.
