Cargo volume handled by JSC Vostochny Port in January-April of 2011 increased by 15% compared with the same period of 2010, to 5,313,500 tons, the stevedore company's press service said.
In April, Vostochny Port handled 1,549,400 tons of cargo of various nomenclature (+19%).
Four-month cargo volume transshipped at Universal Handling Terminal rose by 14% to 860,100 tons. In April, the terminal handled 337,200 tons of cargo, which is 50% above last year's results.
In April, coal exports through Specialized Coal Terminal totaled 1,212,200 tons (+12). From January through April the terminal handled 4,453,400 tons of coal (+15%).
Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating in the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. In 2010, Vostochny Port’s cargo throughput rose 1% year-over-year to 14.700.300 tons. The stevedore company says it plans to handle 17 million tons of coal this year.
