Samudera Shipping expands NKX service

2011-05-05 00:00:00

Samudera Shipping will expand its Nhava Sheva Karachi Express (NKX) in response to rising container shipping demand in India and Pakistan, Seatrade Asia Online reports. The NKX will be restructured into two new loops, namely the Nhava Sheva China Express (NCX) linking China and Nhava Sheva, and Karachi Pipavav Express (KPX) connecting Singapore with Pipavav and Karachi. Four container vessels with capacity of 2,500 teu each will be assigned to NCX, while another three similar ones will serve KPX, to provide weekly service. Samudera will deploy one of its chartered vessels for each service. NCX and KPX will depart on their maiden voyage from Shanghai and Singapore on 19 May and 27 May respectively. The Singapore-based Samudera has also established a new operating network at Da Chan Bay in Shenzhen, China. The port is expected to achieve container throughput capacity of 13m teu, according to Da Chan Bay port authority.
