WITH the latest accreditation of 20 additional stations worldwide as Qualified Envirotainer Providers (QEP) - almost half of them in Asia - Panalpina now has a total of 43 Envirotainer accredited locations in 27 countries to meet "soaring demand" for freight forwarding temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals.
Panalpina said it gained this latest accreditation after meeting the "strict requirements" of Envirotainer's training and quality programme for good distribution practices of temperature sensitive healthcare products, a statement said.
Envirotainer launched its QEP programme at the request of pharma shippers and in response to industry guidance. The programme acknowledges service providers capable of properly managing shipments using Envirotainer containers.
Thomas Berger, global head of industry vertical healthcare at Panalpina, said: "Maintaining product safety and quality is a major concern and the regulatory obligations and consumer expectations facing the pharmaceutical industry are increasing.
"More and more perishable, temperature sensitive pharmaceutical products need to be forwarded over greater distances. Demand is soaring," he said.
