SHENZHEN's Da Chan Bay Terminal One recently welcomed the maiden call of an upgraded Far East-Africa Express Service (FAX) operated by Gold Star Line.
FAX calls at Da Chan Bay every 10 days on the following rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Da Chan Bay, Port Kelang, Colombo, Durban, Tema, Lagos, Takoradi, Abidjan, Colombo, Port Kelang and back to Shanghai.
Gold Star deploys eight ships on the service with an average capacity of 2,400 TEU and claims faster transit times and a better connections between Asian and West African ports.
"With such an enhanced connectivity between Asia and Africa rendered by the FAX Service, shippers and freight forwarders using Da Chan Bay Terminal One will enjoy a faster delivery of products to the market," said the company.

Da Chan Bay Terminal One is situated in the West Shenzhen Port Area. It is a new international container terminal serving the Pearl River Delta cargo areas. DCB covers an area of 112 hectares with five berths along its quay of 1,830 metres by 600 metres.
Construction of the first two berths was completed in late 2007 and commercial operations started in mid-2008. Construction for the third berth and the last two berths were completed in late 2008 and early 2009 respectively. Water depth alongside is currently 15.5 metres and will eventually be dredged to 18 metres, allowing DCB to accommodate the world's largest existing and planned containerships.
The terminal is managed by Modern Terminals Limited, which has 40 years of solid experience of container terminal operations in Hong Kong.
