World forwarders pick Lufthansa Cargo as top, also named best in Europe

LUFTHANSA CARGO has been voted the world's best air freight carrier by freight forwarders all over the world as well as being named the Best European Cargo Airline for the second year in succession at the 2011 Cargo Airline of the Year Awards in London.


The Cargo Airline of the Year awards have been presented annually for the last 29 years by the logistics media company, Air Cargo Media.


Martin Schlingensiepen, vice president product management, accepted the awards on behalf of Lufthansa Cargo and pledged that the company wanted "to continue to be the first choice for our customers and to give forwarders worldwide added value by offering customised products, a dense route network and the highest possible quality."


Lufthansa Cargo, which flew 1.8 million tonnes of freight and mail last year, has also received awards in the United States and in Canada.
