Hanjin Shipping containership attacked

Pirates have attacked a Hanjin Shipping container vessel near the Gulf of Aden on Thursday, the South Korean box liner has informed. The 6,500 teu mother vessel Hanjin Tianjin was heading to Singapore when it was attacked at 05:15am Korean time, according to Hanjin Shipping. “We are now working closely with relevant parties to understand the current situation,” Hanjin Shipping said in a statement. A total of 20 crew, including 14 Koreans and six Indonesians, are onboard the vessel. The attacked occurred on the Asia-North Europe 5 (NE5) service with the vessel located in the Indian Sea, about 400km eastbound from Socotra near the Gulf of Aden.
