The president of STX Finland Juha Heikinheimo has resigned on Wednesday, paving the way for his successor Kim Su-Jou. Kim, who currently holds the position as chairman of STX Finland, will be temporary acting president of the company. The company did not specify the reasons for Heikinheimo's departure. “The main task for the new president will be to secure new orders and gradually restore the activity level of STX Finland,” the company said in a statement. STX Finland is going through “very challenging times”, especially at its Turku shipyard following the delivery of Allure of the Seas in October last year. “Compared with its high shipbuilding capacity for cruise ships, STX Finland and the Turku shipyard have not been successful in getting new orders,” the company said. Kim, who is also ceo of STX Europe AS, parent company of STX Finland, wants STX Finland to be able to build and deliver “the world's most magnificent cruise vessels”.
