Kerry Logistics builds distribution centre for cross-strait cargo in Fuzhou

2011-04-22 00:00:00

HONG KONG's Kerry Logistics has signed a deal with government of Fuzhou, capital of coastal Fujian province, to build a distribution and warehousing centre for cargo flown between mainland and Taiwan, Xinhua reports.

Kerry Logistics plans to buy 10 hectares' land for the facility, and invest a total of US$30.5 million on it in several development phases. Kerry's Hong Kong and Taiwan offices will work together on the project.

After completion, the facility is expected to be able to generate a sales volume of about CNY58.7 million (US$8.99 million) every year and a tax revenue of about CNY18.5 million for the government. It will also create 5,000 jobs.

Kerry hopes to take advantage of China's favourable policies for the development of the coastal region west of the Taiwan Straits and the strengthening status of Fuzhou as a hub for cross-strait cargo, to expand itself in the city and widen its network to cover smaller cites of Sanming, Nanping, Ningde and Longyan later on.
