Icebreakers to escort 5 ships in the Gulf of Finland

As of today, April 20th (8:00am - MT), there are only 5 vessels, which requested icebreaker assistance in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, the Port Authority of Big Port St. Petersburg reports.


The PA reports of total 35 merchant ships currently located in the water area, 25 of them - in motion.


Over the past day 23 ships have reached the entrance buoy of St Petersburg port. 18 vessels are westbound from the Gulf area, 19 ships called at the port, 11 - departed. Overall, there are 56 cargo ships and 411 local ships at the port. There are no vessels subject to ice restrictions at the region’s seaports.
