Sembcorp Marine's shipyard unit has clinched a long-term maintenance and refit alliance contract with Canada-based Teekay Marine Services. Sembawang Shipyard will provide ship repair, refurbishment, upgrading and related marine services for Teekay's fleet of 137 ships docking in Singapore. The yard will also support joint planning, information and experience sharing, thus leveraging complementary resources to achieve sustainable targets in the areas of HSSE (health, safety, security and environment), quality, cost efficiency and timely deliveries. Sembawang Shipyard can anticipate the refit and/or upgrade of six to eight Teekay vessels each year.
The Singapore-based yard had in February this year repaired Teekay's shuttle tanker. There are three other vessels scheduled for repairs at the yard in the first-half of this year.
