Ningbo January container volume up 31pc to 1.26 million TEU

THE eastern port of Ningbo handled 1.26 million TEU in January, an increase of 30.6 per cent compared to the same month in 2010, Xinhua reports.


The port's cargo over all throughput grew 12 per cent to 36.6 million tonnes. Ningbo's major terminal, Beilun phase 3 terminal, handled 312,000 TEU during the month, an increase of 15 per cent.


By the end of January, Ningbo had 229 container shipping services, offering 1,338 sailings per month, further cementing the port's status as one of China's important cargo hubs.
