Cargo throughput of the port of Taman in January 2011 increased as much as 2.5 from the same period of 2010, up to 14,990 tons, PortNews reports citing the Port Authority. Currently, edible oil is handled at the Terminal of Food Ingredients LLC.
Seaport of Taman is located at Zhelezny Rog in Temryuk district of Krasnodar region, near the village of Taman. The port of Taman is open to international shipping lines from August 15, 2008 (Russ. Govt’s Decree No 1196-p). The port has a permanent border crossing checkpoint.
The port’s expansion program is aimed at development of a transport hub for transshipment of liquid nitrogen, crude oil and petroleum products. The first phase expansion project means transshipment of 33.5 million tons of different cargo a year. The port’s berths will be able to accommodate vessels with a length of up to 250m, draft of 14 meters and displacement of up to 100 tons. Vessels capacity - 307 arrivals a year.
Food Ingredients LLC is one of the investors and developers of the seaport of Taman. In 2008 the company launched the first phase of a transshipment complex and a plant for production of specialized oils. As of now, the company is implementing the second phase of the complex, the marine terminal for suction cargoes. It includes a grain terminal that features an elevator, berth facilities and the railyard. In 2010 freight volume handled by the stevedoring company amounted to 247,420 tons.
