Iraq splashes $100m on 9 ships

Baghdad: Iraq has allocated US$100m to buy nine ships, including one passenger ship, said a source at Maritime Transport Company. The nine ships with 15,000 to 20,000 tons capacity will be mainly used for importing food to the country, The source said.


The details of possible shipyards and contract terms will be announced later in a news conference, the official said.
