MSC lowers bunker surcharges on US imports

AFTER two months in which it increased bunker surcharges, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will lower the surcharges for imports into the US from February 1.

MSC posted a notice on its website stating that its bunker adjustment factor will go down by a few dollars on February 1 from the levels that took effect on January 1.

The new surcharges are as follows:

For imports into Pacific coast ports: US$250 per TEU, down from $252 per TEU from January 1 and $500 per FEU, down from $504 per FEU from January 1.

For imports into Atlantic coast ports: $177 per TEU, down from $178 per TEU from January 1 and $354 per FEU, down from $356 per FEU from January 1.
