Port Qasim New Year berth occupancy at 90pc

BERTH occupany hit 90 per cent at Karachi's Port Qasim with 11 vessels including five at the Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Fotco terminal and four more at the outer anchorage.

Throughput on January 4 totalled 2,418 TEU with overall cargo volume of 101,680 tonnes with imports accounting for 81,535 tonnes and exports totalling 20,145 tonnes, reported Pakistan's Daily Times. Two other containerships and a general cargo vessel were expected to take berths at the QICT and MPT the following day.
