Indonesia to finish construction of 12 ports

The Indonesian government plans to complete the construction of 12 ports in 2011, which is 28 fewer than originally planned, according to local media reports.

“This is so we can focus our efforts and use the available budget to the optimum,” Fadal Muhammed, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries told local media.

According to media reports, the minister has allocated $143 million for the construction of ports located in the Northern, Southern and Eastern parts of Indonesia.
