Suifenhe trade value grows 68.9pc in first nine months

SUIFENHE customs checkpoint, located in northeastern China's Heilongjiang province, on the Russian border, registered a strong year-on-year growth of 68.9 per cent in its trade value to US$1.84 billion in the first three quarters of this year, taking up 40.1 per cent of the provincial total.


Exports valued $817 million while imports valued $1.02 billion, according to Xinhua's report.


Trade with Russia increased 69 per cent to $1.8 billion, taking up 99.9 per cent of the city's total. Ukraine is its second largest trade partner with a value of $330,000. Trade with Japan valued $160,000, with European Union, valued $170,000 and US trade valued $130,000.


Garment, accessories, shoes, mechanical electrical products and agricultural products are the dominant kinds of goods in Suifenhe's exports, taking up 75.2 per cent of the city's total export value.


During the same period, Heilongjiang province's trade value set a new high by hitting $18.4 billion. By the end of this year, the province's trade value is expected to reach $24 billion.
