Colombia needs more ports

The president of the Colombian National Companies Association says that the country needs more ports on both its Atlantic and Pacific coasts to deal with expected growth projections.

He is particularly critical of the existing state of Buenaventura port, which he says lacks good access and facilities. Even with a second port opening on the Pacific coast, utilisation of existing facilities would only fall to 74% from an existing level of 87%.
