SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) have decided to ground its three Airbus A380s after finding oil stains and had decided to change the Rolls-Royce engines for new ones.
SIA's decision of suspending the flights of its A380 fleet followed Australia-based Qantas' same decision the previous week, reports Reuters.
Qantas suspended the flights of its six A380 fleet after finding an engine had partly disintegrated mid-flight, forcing the world's largest passenger jet so far to make an emergency landing in Singapore, said News.com.au.
Investigations into the Qantas incident have focused on oil leaks inside the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines, the same used in Singapore Airlines' and Lufthansa's A380 fleet.
But SIA said the problems on three of its A380 fleet were precautionary and advised by Rolls-Royce. It was unrelated to Qantas' case because the oil stains were different from the oil leakage in the Qantas A380 trouble, according to the BBC News.
