Beijing National Highway 108 upgrade project completed

2010-10-14 00:00:00

BEIJING has finished the upgrade of the CNY900 million (US$134.5 million) National Highway No 108 and the building of an auxiliary road after seven years, Xinhua reported.

National Highway 108 starts at Beijing's Tianning Temple and ends in Kunming, a city in southwestern China's Yunnan province. It has 99 kilometres in Beijing's suburban Fangshan District, where the mountainous terrain leads to poor road conditions and causes congestion.

The upgraded section, covering a distance of 65 kilometres, and the auxiliary section, covering 21 kilometres, are expected to relieve congestion and to benefit over 100,000 people living in and around the region.
