2010-09-03 00:00:00

HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced plans to implement a general rate increase on transatlantic services of US$320 per TEU and $400 per FEU from October 1.

The GRI will apply to westbound and eastbound trades and be applicable to all container types.

All cargo transported between Europe and the US, Canada and Mexico will be subject to the new rate.

Japanese shipping giant NYK also plans to raise its transatlantic rates, starting from October 1, on containers moving in both directions.

The NYK increase, which applies to all cargo under NYK Line independent tariffs and service contracts, is $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
