KANSAS International Airport (KCI) cargo alone was up 5.7 per cent in June to 15 million pounds, but airmail fell, bringing the overall freight figure down 4.6 per cent year on year.
The number of passengers flying was an average of 39,000 daily seats, four per cent down year on year, is forecast to increase over the summer months to five per cent in August and September said airport manager Justin Meyer in a Kansas City Business Journal.
"More people are flying out of Kansas City International Airport on fewer seats than they did last year, which is pretty remarkable," he said.
Peak scheduled departures reached 200 in June with service to 48 non-stop markets with all-cargo carriers up to five a day.
June also saw 200 peak-day scheduled aircraft departures at the airport, with service to 48 non-stop markets.
