Egyptian port completes berth construction

The first berth of the second phase of Egypt's Port Said East Container Terminal has been completed, Xinhua reported.


The US$219 million project is a 1,200-meter-long southern extension to the first phase. It includes four berths with a 17.5-meter depth.


The entire project began construction in September 2008 and is expected to be completed by July 2011.
