Rail shuttle system continues to expand

2010-04-30 00:00:00

The Port's rail shuttle system is expanding and new shuttles are being introduced. As recently as last week, the shuttle service between Falköping and the Port of Gothenburg was resumed, now with Green Cargo as the operator. The shuttle has four departures each week and carries truck freight. The investment in the Skaraborg Logistics Centre is part of the EU Dryport project which, among other things, is aimed at making it possible to access information about where in the intermodal
service the freight is that any given time. The technology used is known as RFID.
Recently, the Port of Gothenburg was also linked up to the Rolvsøy Terminal, located to the east of Oslo in Norway. The Terminal is part of the Port's Norwegian Shuttle concept.
