Cathay takes delivery of its 75th Boeing plane - a 777-300ER

HONG KONG's Cathay Pacific Airways has taken delivery of a 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft from US plane maker Boeing - its 75th aircraft purchased directly from the company.

"The 777 allows us to economically offer non-stop service to the major gateways of the world," said Cathay chief operations officer John Slosar. "The 777 has completely changed our business model over the last three years."

The new aircraft expands the airline's 777 fleet to 34 aircraft, which includes twelve 777-300s and five 777-200s. This also includes leased aircraft. Cathay also operates forty-eight 747-400 aircraft in both cargo and passenger versions is committed to expand its 747 fleet with an additional ten 747-8 Freighters with first deliveries beginning in 2011.
