The CMA CGM Group will open its newly renovated deepwater quay in Iraq’s Umm Qasr port on Friday.
This quay is dedicated exclusively to CMA CGM vessels and equipped with the most modern cargo-handling facilities, allowing the French line complete autonomy in the handling of its containers into and out of Iraq.
For the first time in Iraq, CMA CGM will be able to offer to its customers a direct reefer service.
The CMA CGM Group offers a weekly service from Umm Qasr port to Khor Fakkan in the UAE (two vessels of 880 TEU) providing worldwide connections to main CMA CGM services.
The giant French carrier has been in Iraq since 1978 and has three offices in Baghdad, Basra and Umm Qasr.
The specifications of Terminal 4 are:
- Quay Length: 200m;
- Quay Depth: 350m / 7ha yard;
- Draft 10.5m;
- One administration office building inside the yard;
- One workshop for repairs and maintenance;
- 28 surveillance cameras;
- Two power generators 250kva + 350kva;
- Secure container yard.
