NYK ships quake relief boom trucks free to Chile

NYK HAS provided free ocean transport for three boom-trucks donated by Tadano Ltd to the Chilean government.

The trucks will play a part in the county's reconstruction programme targeted at the quake's worst hit areas.

The vehicles were loaded on to the Pluto Leader in Galveston, Texas, on April 13 and are expected to arrive in San Antonio, Valparaiso, by the middle of May, after which they are scheduled to make their way to southern Chile.

NYK Group has often come to the aid of disaster-struck countries in the past - once a cyclone in Myanmar, and once an earthquake in central Java.

The operator says it will continue to support victims of natural disasters as part of its efforts to be a socially responsible company.
