2010-04-16 00:00:00

A recently restructured Suez service covering Southeastern Asia, Vietnam and South China will begin to call at Georgia Ports Authority's (GPA) Garden City Terminal beginning in June, Euclid Infotech reported.

"K" Line will add both Savannah and Jacksonville to AWE-4, one of its Asia-North America East Coast service loops.

"K" Line is a member of the CKYH Alliance that also includes COSCO, Yang Ming and Hanjin Shipping.

"We welcome the AWE-4 service to Savannah and look forward to working with all of the carriers participating in the service, along with the cargo owners that make up this excellent new opportunity," said Curtis Foltz, GPA executive director.

The new service will deploy nine vessels, each with a 5,500 container capacity, in cooperation with Mitsui OSK Lines - seven operated by "K" Line and two by MOL.

The port rotation includes: Ho Chi Minh, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian, Singapore, Halifax, New York, Norfolk, Jacksonville, Savannah, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh.
