Suape gets new RTGs

- Eight new rubber tyred gantries (RTGs) were recently delivered to International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) subsidiary Tecon Suape S.A. (TSSA) for the Suape Container Terminal (SCT) in Brazil.

The machines are part of TSSA’s three-year US$45m capital investment programme for the terminal and will further improve capacity and operations at SCT.

Manufactured by Noell Cranes in China, each RTG has a stacking capacity of one-over-five high and a six-row-plus-one truck lane, with spreaders that have an extension range of up to 40 teu and a lifting capacity under spreader of 41 tonnes. The machines are also equipped with global and container positioning systems.

The RTGs, which will be operational by end the end of this month (March) and will bring the RTG fleet at the terminal to 12 units.
