UNCITRAL posts draft treaty

The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law has recently posted the Report of UNITRAL Working Group III on its Web sitedaccessdds.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/V08/507/44/PDF/V0850744.pdf?OpenElement.

Dennis L. Bryant, an attorney with Holland & Knight said the report, starting at page 60, contains the present and probably final form of the Draft Convention on Contracts for International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea.

The draft treaty was prepared by the working group during a two-week meeting in Vienna, Austria, in January.

It will be presented to the UNCITRAL Commission at its meeting at U.N. headquarters in New York that begins June 16. If it approves the draft treaty, it is expected to be presented to the General Assembly in the fall.
