GERMANY's Hapag-Lloyd has announced rate increases for cargo moving from North America to the Far East, Indian subcontinent and Mideast from April 1.
Cargo from the United States to the Far East will face an extra charge of US$240 per TEU and US$300 per FEU while reefer rates will rise $240 per TEU and $300 per FEU for local cargo originating in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland and Seattle, and $400 per TEU and $500 per FEU for boxes from beyond these points,:
Canada-to- Far East rates will rise $160 per TEU and $200 per FEU, said the American Shipper report. Reefer rates will increase $200 per TEU and $300 per FEU for boxes moving from Halifax to Vancouver and $400 per TEU and $500 per FEU for reefer boxes from Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and inland points intermodal (IPI) points.
From the US and Canada to Indian subcontinent and Mideast ports, rates will increase $240 per TEU and $300 per FEU. Reefer boxes will be charged and additional $400 per TEU and $500 per FEU.
